Public Attitudes and Behaviours Towards the Environment.

(15/11/2007)

New research shows that being ‘green’ is now seen as the norm, rather than an alternative lifestyle.

The 2007 study of public attitudes and behaviour conducted by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) found that the majority of people feel that being ‘green’ is now the socially acceptable norm. The majority of those surveyed said that their main motivation for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle was guilt at harming the environment.

A third of those polled agreed that they try to encourage others to be more environmentally friendly, and talk to friends and family about changes they can implement
