Our delivery fleet is designed to minimise environmental impacts.
As a national supplier of office products, we make many thousands of deliveries every week. So we’re taking practical steps to minimise the impact of our delivery fleet on the environment.
Fleet management
Our advanced fleet management system enables us to plot the most efficient delivery routes, leading to fuel savings and reduced emissions.
LPG dual fuel vehicles
Several LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) dual fuel vehicles operate in the London area. LPG produces lower carbon emissions than petrol or diesel and results in lower noise levels.
Double-decker trailers
We use double-decker trailers that enable us to carry twice the load of a standard trailer. This reduces fuel consumption, emissions and traffic congestion compared to two single deck trailers.
Fuel economies
All delivery vehicles are fitted with satellite tracking systems for productivity and fuel efficiency. Various fuel additives are also currently on trial with improvements of 10 – 12% expected in fuel economy, with reduced carbon emissions and cleaner engines. The careful monitoring of routes, and the use of speed limiters achieve further fuel economies.
Back-loading
We operate a back-loading policy. Our drivers deliver a load and then pick up goods from suppliers on the return journey, ensuring fewer empty vehicles on the roads. We also encourage our suppliers to minimise their distribution impact by delivering to our distribution centres according to strict schedules to avoid frequent drops .
