Closed Loop announced as finalist in GO awards
Banner’s Closed Loop solution has been announced as a finalist in the National GO awards in the Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative category. Closed Loop was entered into the GO awards by HMRC Commercial Directorate (Office Solutions Team) who worked in partnership with Banner to develop our innovative complete Closed Loop solution.
The Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2012/13 recognise and reward innovation and achievement in public sector procurement. The awards presentation will take place on 13th March at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel and representatives from both Banner and HMRC will be attending.
HMRC collaborated with Banner to develop a complete Closed Loop solution. HMRC waste paper is collected and securely shredded. The recovered waste paper is transported to the partnering paper mill, where it remains segregated from other waste, and used to manufacture new recycled paper for resale to Closed Loop customers.
David Thomas, Commercial Director HMRC, highlighted the key benefits of Closed Loop saying “it has enabled HMRC to reduce costs and also delivered further data security and environmental benefits.” Building on this success, Closed Loop is now mandated for the whole of Central Government under the Government Office Supplies Contract (GOSC). A billion sheets of Banner Closed Loop paper have already been produced and usage of recycled paper in the UK public sector is anticipated to increase significantly in the next twelve months.
Our Closed Loop solution is available to public and private sector customers – to find out more why not visit our new website?
