Olympic countdown – 200 days to go!
The Olympic countdown is now well under way with just 200 days until London 2012 begins. The opening ceremony on July 27th will mark the beginning of the first Olympic Games held in the UK for over 60 years. The Olympic Games will run until August 12th 2012, followed by the Paralympics from August 30th until September 9th.
The organisers will be implementing a number of traffic measures to enable the athletes, media and dignitaries to travel easily between the Olympic village and the venues. These will include road closures, and the creation of specific ‘Olympic Lanes’ on major routes. Traffic will be particularly affected around the Olympic venues, but the restrictions will also impact upon the City. Some major routes will be closed to traffic between 6am and midnight. Full details of the traffic restrictions are available on the London 2012 website.
